Somewhere between atmospherism and breaks Pushy! is rampant since 1995
on the wide-ranging French breakbeat scene.
Born from drum'n'bass, having passed through the sound packaging,
Pushy! is a concentrate of the whole independent scene: he composed
the sound track of Exercice of Steel of Marc Caro and has worked for
fashion creators, dancers, etc.
On this "Hors Not", one switches from one extreme to the other, from
the harp to scintillating breaks, even to some unexpected 4/4. A
little dash of guitar here, some broken glasses there, snatches of
frayed voices in between..
All this composes a sincere trip, subtle and slightly acid, in
changing colours, very much like the astonishingly mixed route taken
by Pushy!
This new album takes us away from the trodden path and reveals to us a
less obscure side of the artist. Certainly more accessible, but no
less strange. Highly recommendable, as you have well understood.
